Walking home today I thought I could smell something burning… I went on my usual way and passed an alleyway and thought there was a little bit of smoke so I put it down to that… How wrong could I be (usually very!)

When down my street I walked passed another alley, very close to my house and there were a couple of my neighbours looking, from the opposite side of my street over the houses.

There was thick black, acrid smoke billowing up into the air from the general direction of an old, disused food processing factory.

When I got in I asked Emma if she had looked out of the windows, she got a surprise when she did.

So we took a little walk and took these photos:-

It was the old Birds Eye factory, it’s been closed a number of years now and has always been heralded as an ugly building, it’s quite close to residential areas and stood (it could still be standing as I type) over four storeys high.
