I’ve been looking on the net at web design companies both in Grimsby and nationwide. It seems that as soon as you get out of any metropolitan area the state of the industry decays.
From London to Glasgow you can get state of the art designs filled with well designed flash animations and, more importantly filled with content (content is king, long live content!)
But should you leave the metropolis you revert back to state of the ark.
Coming closer to home, you see abysmal sites; these people are trying to sell their wares on the World Wide Web. Six year-olds could do a better job or at least have a better eye for colour.
Why is this so? The Internet is global, from the densest city to the densest jungle, it you have a pc and a phone line you can view it (I know it’s a very simplistic view) why can people from ‘the sticks’ not shine better?
There is talent out there, and I know that people in the backwaters of the country can do better, why can it not be found? Have they all been snapped up by the city folk and e-commute?
Take my site, ok, I know that I don’t have content, I don’t update it as often as I should (some call me lazy, others just cannot be bothered!!) but the design is there, in my honest opinion anyway. But content is something I’m working on, as are updates to the design and some bells and whistles.
But why are some ‘professional web designers’ lazy? Why do they use kludges when creating valid documents is as easy?
I guess I’ll never know.
Thanks for listning
